Honda Reports 11th Death Caused By Takata Airbag Inflator
Honda has reported that another person has died due to injuries caused by an exploding airbag inflator made by the Takata Corporation.
The latest death occurred in Fort Bend County, Texas in the United States on March 31.
The 17-year old victim was driving a 2003 Honda Civic and had rear-ended a Honda CRV at an intersection. The impact caused her car's airbag to rupture. The victim was wearing her seat belt when she crashed.
The owner of the 2003 Civic involved in the accident had been mailed multiple recall notices, but no repairs had been made.
This latest death takes the number of deaths caused by the exploding Takata airbag inflators to 11. 10 of these deaths have occurred in Honda cars and a single death has been reported in a car made by Ford.
