Hella India Forays Into OEM With Tech-Laden Products
The Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) are looking for integrated solutions for the features and interiors in their vehicles. Hella India Automotive is catering to this requirement with new tech-laden products, the company has recently been focussing on OEM than of just making electronic components.
Hella is developing a DC-DC converter which will be rolled out to thedomestic market and also for global markets with the ‘Make-in-India' campaign. Daimler Trucks have already placed an order for the DC-DC converter with Hella and the production is expected to begin by this year end. The product will be used not just in India but in their global vehicles as well.
Next in line of development is the mood lighting which comes integrated within the vehicle through a smartphone and can change the lightings as per the userrequirement. This is being developed for passenger car OEM.
Also development in on for an advanced electronic steering unit with an electronic controller which is available globally, but Hella will localise it to cater to the OEM in India. The steering unit senses the driver's intention electronically via sensors and accordingly converts the mechanical force into turning angle.
Apart from these electronic components, it is also working on an intelligent battery sensor which is currently being used by OEM in Asia. This component senses the health of the battery which will be a useful addition to automakers portfolio in e-mobility and electric vehicles.
Hella India Automotive is working on other interesting and exciting electronic components which caterto the OEM's requirement and wants to move in that direction.
