Hamilton & Rosberg Separated By A Single Point Post Silverstone
Lewis Hamilton began his home race at Silverstone, England in pole position. The race began behind a safety car, as the track was wet and there was standing water in various places. This ensured no overtaking would take place for the first five laps putting every driver on the back foot.
Nico Rosberg started the race in second place and found the wet track overwhelming. The German driver struggled and was involved an intense battle with Red Bull Racing's Max Verstappen. Rosberg finished the race in second, however, was demoted to third.
Mercedes-AMG officials sent out illegal radio messages to Rosberg at the ending stage. Team radio messages that assist a driver have been banned in Formula One Championship. Rosberg witnessed a gearbox problem, however, his engineer told him to change a mode and not use seventh gear.
Scuderia Ferrari who looked menacing in qualifying and closest to defeat Mercedes-AMG had a terrible a race day. Kimi Raikkonen after a tough battle with weather conditions and fought back up to fifth place. Sebastian Vettel, on the other hand, could only manage ninth place at Silverstone.
McLaren-Honda and Williams Racing found the wet track difficult to race on. Button and Alonso finished the race in 12th and 13th position respectively. Massa and Bottas salvaged 11th and 14th places at the Silverstone GP.
