Government Accuses The BMW 3 Series For Being Poorly Built
The National Road Safety Council has ruled that the BMW 3 Series sedan is built poorly in India, and also that global carmakers are compromising on safety when it comes to selling cars in India. The government body has accused BMW of making the 3 Series less safe in India, compared to models being sold outside.
The Road Safety Council crash tested 12 BMW 3 Series cars, and all of them split into two. The body also says that the crash test was done on which side the safety was given an average rating.
Commenting on the situation, BMW says that all their cars sold in India meet global safety system and is also consistent. At the moment, road accident fatalities in India is the highest in the world.
Along with the BMW 3 Series, the National Road Safety Council has claimed the now out of production Maruti 800 is also very poorly built. Maruti has not commented yet.
