Genesis Teams Up With Amazon Alexa — Now You Can Control Your Car From Home
Genesis luxury cars can now be controlled from your home, thanks to Amazon's home digital assistant Alexa.
Genesis claims to be the first automaker to introduce Alexa, which lets users of Amazon's Echo home hub device use voice commands to do anything from streaming music to booking an Uber .
Genesis car owners need an Amazon device at home with a built-in Alexa service such as the Amazon Echo, the Amazon Tap (a portable Bluetooth speaker) and Amazon's Fire TV.
Genesis G90 owners will receive a complimentary Amazon.com gift card which can be used to purchase an Amazon Echo device for free.
Hyundai Genesis owners who have an Echo in their homes will be able to remotely start their engines, honk the horn, turn on the air conditioning, turn on the lights, and lock/unlock the doors.
Owners will get free three-year access to the Genesis connected car service by using "Genesis Skill" in the Alexa app.
