Formula E Roborace Autonomous Car Breaks Cover
Autonomous Roborace Series is expected to begin by 2016/2017. Formula E had decided that they would introduce a race series, which would eliminate the driver from the car. Now their very first concept design has broken cover ahead of its official reveal.
The Roborace car concept design is done by Daniel Simon, Chief Design Officer. Daniel Simon is the known for his exceptional work for movies like Oblivion and Tron: Legacy. Futuristic and nothing like what is available in the current market is the only way to explain the concept car.
Roborace will be held during the Formula E weekends itself. Initially, Roborace will be a show and not a competition event. It will be an insight to how autonomous racing events could be the future of racing competition.
The autonomous racecar is an interesting project as the cockpit can be utilised or other purposes. Roborace will be controlled by operators sitting behind a computer and will help in development of autonomous street projects. Motorsports gives engineers the chance to showcase their development in a competitive environment and further improve it.
