Ford To Move European Export Production Of EcoSport Out Of India

Ford will partially shift the production of the Ecosport out of its Chennai plant in India.

According to ET Auto, the production for the European markets for the Ecosport SUV will start at Ford's factory in Craiova, Romania by the end of 2017.

ET Auto claims that the loss of the European production will be offset as Ford plans to start supplying the North American market from the Chennai plant in a few years time. Production for the North American market will start in 2017 when the EcoSport's mid-cycle facelift goes into production.

A Ford India spokesperson stated that that the decision to produce EcoSport for European customers in Europe is in line with its 'One Ford' plan to optimize efficiencies across its global manufacturing operations.
