When it comes to SUVs, Ford India has been aggressive in its product strategy for the Indian market. The US auto major launched the new generation Endeavour earlier this year.

Ford will be launching the 2017 EcoSport next year. Earlier Ford India had imported the Kuga SUV to India for research and development purposes. The SUV has been spotted testing in India.

The new Kuga SUV will be slotted in between the EcoSport and Endeavour. The interior of the Kuga SUV will feature all-black theme which will give it a premium feel. The dashboard will boast firms Kinetic design language.

The Kuga compact SUV is expected to be launched in both diesel and petrol option. The diesel variant will be powered by 2-litre diesel engine which churns out 147bhp and 370Nm of torque.

Whereas the petrol variant will be powered by 1.5-litre Ecoboost engine which produces 179bhp and 177Nm of peak torque. The transmission option include a six-speed manual and six-speed SelectShift automatic gearbox on the petrol variant.

The diesel variant will be offered only with the six-speed manual transmission. The Kuga SUV will be also equipped with features such as push-button start, multi-functional steering wheel, and rear AC vents.

The safety features on the Ford Kuga include six airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, rear parking camera and rear parking sensors.

Currently, the Kuga SUV is in the testing phase and it is expected to be launched in the Indian market sometime in 217 or 2018.

The new compact SUV from Ford is expected to be offered with a price tag of Rs 12 lakh to Rs 18 lakh ex-showroom. Once launched the Kuga SUV will go head on against the likes of Renault Duster, Mahindra XUV500 and Hyundai Tucson.
