With this move, all the Ford vehicles in India will be equipped with driver's airbag. ABS and EBD will be a standard feature in EcoSport Trend and above trims.
The Titanium and Titanium Plus variants of the Ford EcoSport will get an additional safety feature of side and curtain airbags.
This move from Ford to improve the safety features of the EcoSport base variant comes after the tough competition from the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.
The Vitara Brezza comes equipped with driver's airbag standard across all the variants, the passenger's airbag and ABS is optional on all the trims of the compact SUV.
Apart from the addition of the airbag no changes has been made to the compact SUV. The EcoSport is available with three engine options.

The transmission options include a five-speed manual transmission across the range and six-speed Powershift DCT gearbox is only available with the 1.5-litre petrol variant.
Ford is gearing up for a major facelift for the EcoSport. The facelifted model of the EcoSport is expected to make its official debut at the 2016 Sao Paulo Auto Show in Brazil. The India launch of the facelifted EcoSport is expected to happen in 2017.
