Ford Develops EcoBlue Diesel Engine — Will It Be A Game Changer?
Despite the diesel gate scandal which Volkswagen is still dousing the flame, Ford has gone ahead and developed a new diesel engine. Ford's EcoBlue diesel engine has been dubbed as a game changer.
The new EcoBlue diesel mill is available in Ford's light commercial vehicle Transit and Transit Custom vans. Ford unveiled the new EcoBlue diesel engine at the 2016 IAA Hannover Commercial Vehicle Show with better carbon dioxide emission as low as 157 grams per kilometer as per New European Driving Cycle (NEDC).
The EcoBlue diesel engine will power the Transit and the Transit Custom vans is a 2.0-litre engine which boasts of 13 percent better fuel efficiency and 20 percent higher low-end torque that the 2.2-litre Duratorq TDCi engine. The EcoBlue diesel engine comes paired to a six-speed manual and automatic gearbox.
Offered in three different states of tune (104bhp, 128bhp, 168bhp), the EcoBlue engine comes mated with the automatic in the 128bhp and the 168bhp flavours. The 104bhp mill will come paired to the six-speed manual gearbox.
