Force India Decides Whether Or Not To Extend Sergio Perez Contract
Sergio Perez has been considered as one of the hottest properties in Formula One currently. The Mexican driver was highly sought after by several teams as his contract with Force India comes to an end with the 2016 Formula One Championship.
Force India has now extended Sergio Perez's contract by another year. Perez will continue to drive for Force India in the Formula One 2017 Championship. He will continue to be teammates with Nico Hulkenberg for a minimum of one more year.
Currently, Perez had outperformed teammate Hulkenberg during 2016 Championship. Sergio Perez is just six points behind sixth place Valtteri Bottas. Force India's primary goal is to beat Williams this year and be the fourth best team after Mercedes, Red Bull, and Ferrari.
Perez was touted to leave Force India for either Renault or Williams in an attempt to be more competitive. The Mexican driver has confirmed that he will race for Force India next year. Sergio Perez has also expressed his gratitude to teams that have shown interest in him.
Williams are now most likely to promote Lance Stroll to replace Felipe Massa. Renault on the other hand is unclear about their driver line up. Both Kevin Magnussen and Jolyon Palmer are under pressure as Renault have still not announced on retaining either driver.
