Kia Motors, the sister brand of Hyundai is in the news about entering India, nothing is confirmed either from Kia or Hyundai. Hyundai is expecting to position Kia a notch below, which will help position the Hyundai brand of cars at a premium.
Some of the Kia Motors cars are interesting for the Indian market, here is our list of Kia cars that should come to India.
The smallest of the lot, the Picanto from Kia is stylish and compact as well. This will certainly help in the traffic-riddled roads of India. This could fit in between the Hyundai Eon and Grand i10 and possibly replace the old i10.
Globally, Kia Picanto is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol mill; however, for India, a 1.0-litre which powers the Eon can do the duty for the Picanto.
The Kia Rio falls in the segment of Maruti Swift and can be a good rival as well. The Rio is known for its features like LED daytime running lights, automatic climate control, keyless entry and reverse parking assistance.
The above features on the Kia Rio will be an edge over its rivals.
The sub-four-metre compact sedan is a tough segment with Maruti Swift DZire ruling the market. Many of the car makers are offering a product in this segment.
Kia's Rio Sedan is not the same concept with a boot added to the Rio hatchback, in fact, it is a full-size sedan. Powering the Rio Sedan is the 1.4-litre diesel engine seen in the Hyundai Verna. If launched it will rival the likes of Toyota Etios, Renault Scala, and Nissan Sunny.
Hyundai has plans to offer an MPV for the Indian market, however, that has been shelved as per recent reports. However, Hyundai can bring the Kia Carens which is essentially an MPV.
The seven-seater Kia Carens can compete with the Renault Lodgy and probably the Toyota Innova Crysta.
With the SUV market booming in the Indian market, an SUV from Kia is a must. The Kia Sportage is powered by a solid 2.0-litre diesel engine seen globally.
The Kia Sportage punches out with the choice two tunes of 134bhp or 183bhp, this suggests it can rival the Mahindra XUV500.
