Fiat, Uber In Talks Over Driverless Cars
Italian American carmaker Fiat Chrysler Automobiles(FCA) is in talks with ride sharing app Uber over a potential partnership for driverless cars.
FCA in May, had announced an alliance with software giant Google which will see Google fitting 100 new 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid minivans with their self-driving tech.
According to AFP, talks between the two companies are at at a preliminary stage and San Francisco-based Uber is also exploring options with other car makers as well.
Uber had unveiled its first self-driving car last month, and announced that it had begun testing the vehicle on the streets of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the United States.
Other car companies like Mercedes-Benz, Audi, BMW and Tesla are currently working on integrating autonomous driving tech into their cars.
In April, Uber was among the founding members of an industry group called the Self-Driving Coalition for Safer Streets which also includes Google, Ford, Volvo and Lyft.
