Fernando Alonso Not Cleared Yet To Race At Chinese GP
Fernando Alonso had a horrific accident in the opening round of Formula One 2016 Championship. The Spaniard was declared unfit for the Bahrain GP. Alonso sustained a broken rib which could puncture his lungs.
McLaren-Honda is confident that Alonso would pass the medical test ahead of the Chinese GP. Fernando Alonso has commenced training, however, he has still not completely healed from his injuries. So far, Alonso has undergone two chest scans that show his ribs have not healed.
Stoffel Vandoorne was recruited by McLaren-Honda to step into Fernando Alonso's shoes. The Belgian racer drove successfully in Bahrain securing valuable points for the team. Vandoorne could get another chance to drive in Formula One if Alonso is deemed unfit to race.
The Chinese GP will be contested on April 17, 2016. Alonso is expected to undergo several tests ahead of the racing weekend. The Spaniard was ready to race at Bahrain itself, however, McLaren-Honda decided to provide their driver with some much valuable recovery time.
Post the Australian GP, Fernando Alonso admitted that he is really very lucky to walk away from his accident. The two-time Formula One Championship winner promises that he will be in China. Alonso will do everything possible in his capacity to race this weekend for Mclaren-Honda.
