Red Bull supremo Dietrich Mateschitz has stated once again that he is unsure of his team's long term future in Formula 1.
Speaking to Speedweek.com (A website owned by Red Bull), Mateschitz stated that Red Bull Racing needed to ensure it gets a more competitive engine for the team to remain in F1.
He said, "If we are not competitive from an engine point of view, we will leave. For sure we don't want to spend the next five years fighting for fifth position on the grid."
Mateschitz also stated that his goal for this year was to come third in the season behind the works teams of Mercedes and Ferrari. He stated that he was optimistic his team could achieve the target thanks to another Adrian Newey masterpiece and a better engine from Renault Sport.
"We should win the fight against the customer teams of Mercedes and Ferrari." Mateschitz said.
"The new staff from Renault Sport are professional, passionate and determined. Our new car is one of the best we've ever made. Its performance is great. It's another masterpiece of Adrian and his team."
