Datsun has teased us with an image of their upcoming model for the Indian market. The image shared with us is that of their Redi-Go compact hatchback model, which was showcased as a concept at the 2014 Auto Expo Show in Delhi.
The Redi-Go by Datsun will be making its Indian debut on April 14, 2016. In all Datsun will now have three products on offer in the Indian market. The Redi-Go will be their most affordable product within their portfolio. Not much has been revealed about the Redi-Go as Datsun is looking to surprise everyone.
The Redi-Go is based on Renault-Nissan Alliance's CMF-A platform, which is also used by the Kwid. Renault Kwid is an aggressively priced product in the Indian market and it will be interesting to see how Datsun price their most affordable product the Redi-Go.
Powering the Redi-Go is most likely to be a 0.8-litre petrol, three-cylinder engine. The engine will be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and will produce 53.26bhp, along with 72Nm of peak torque. Datsun could also introduce a diesel engine for its Redi-Go at a later stage.
In terms of design, the Redi-Go will bear a resemblance to its concept version. Not much of exterior styling will be changed, thus providing the compact hatchback with an unique design. Interiors of the Redi-Go are still a mystery and we expect it to be similar to other Datsun products.
