Datsun RediGo India Launch Expected By Mid-2016
Datsun had showcased the RediGo concept at the 2014 Auto Expo in Delhi. Since then, everyone is waiting to see the final production model. Recently, we shared with you details that the Japanese manufacturer has commenced testing of their all-new small car.
Now there is a high possibility that Datsun would be launching the RediGo in India sometime during mid-2016. The RediGo will be manufactured at Renault-Nissan Alliance facility in Chennai.
Powering the RediGo will be a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine, which will be mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Datsun will be making use of the same engine that does duty in the Nissan Micra hatchback. The engine will be tuned to extract maximum fuel efficiency for the RediGo.
RediGo will use the CMF-A platform developed by Renault-Nissan Alliance. The Kwid was based on the same platform, however, Datsun will not use similar styling or features on its RediGo model. Datsun will try to replicate the amazing sales achieved by Renault's Kwid.
We expect the RediGo by Datsun to be priced around Rs. 3.5 lakh for the base variant in the Indian market. The RediGo will compete with the likes of Renault Kwid, Maruti Suzuki Alto, and Hyundai Eon models. Datsun also plans on introducing the GoCross model in India soon, as it was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo.
