Daimler Trucks Asia, under which Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) and Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC) are co-operating closely, showcased its product lineup at the 2016 IAA at Hannover, the largest commercial vehicle trade fair.
The DICV displayed its products which were built in Chennai plant. Bharat Benz, Fuso and Mercedes-Benz were showcased in the vehicle trade fair. The Bharat Benz 3723R is a five-axle truck designed for special transport solutions in India.
The Fuso TV concept truck 4043S is a tractor truck aimed at the Middle East and Latin American markets. The Mercedes-Benz school bus OF 917 RF C is also intended for the Middle Eastern market.
Daimler Trucks Asia also announced that a third truck family has been assigned to built at DICV's Chennai plant- a new sub-9tonne product family for exports and the domestic market. Production is planned to begin in 2017.
Managing Director and CEO, Daimler India Commercial Vehicles, Erich Nesselhauf said, "It is great news for DICV to extend production beyond our existing medium and heavy-duty models to include a third truck product family below 9 tonnes."
He added "This shows the flexibility and quality of our manufacturing operations. It also underlines that exports will be more and more complementing our successful domestic BharatBenz business. This is ‘Make in India' at its best."
