Chevrolet Essentia To Be Launched In India By March 2017
The upcoming compact sedan, the Chevrolet Essentia is expected to be launched in India by March 2017.
American car manufacturer General Motors is planning to launch its new products in the Indian market in the next two years. The new Chevrolet Essentia sedan based on the Beat hatchback is set to hit the Indian market by next year.
The Essentia sedan was first showcased at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. As per the reports the compact sedan is expected to be launched in the Indian market by March 2017.
The compact sedan shares its design cues from its hatchback sibling, the Beat. The Essentia also sits on the same platform employed in the Beat hatchback. With the compact sedan market dipping in the country, the Essentia may bring a fresh air in the segment.
The Essentia is expected to be available in both petrol and diesel variant. The petrol variant will be powered by 1.2-litre SMARTECH engine producing 76.8bhp and 106.5Nm 1.0-litre SMARTECH
Whereas the diesel model will be powered by 1.0-litre SMARTECH motor churning out 56.3bhp and 142.5Nm of peak torque. The transmission options include a five-speed manual gearbox and an AMT variant is also expected to be launched.
The interior of the compact sedan is expected to be minimalistic similar to the Beat hatchback. It features motorcycle inspired instrument cluster and Chevrolet MyLink touchscreen infotainment system.
The safety features of the Essentia sedan includes dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and a reverse parking camera which is expected to be offered in the top of the line variant.
It is expected that the Essentia sedan will be priced in the range of Rs 4.5 lakh to Rs 7.5 lakh ex-showroom. When launched the Essential will be a tough competitor to the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, Hyundai Xcent, Honda Amaze, Ford Aspire, Volkswagen Ameo and yet to be launched Tata Kite 5
