General Motors has confirmed that it will launch a diesel variant of the next generation Chevrolet Cruze RS in diesel variant.
According to a report, the diesel variant of the Cruze will be also available in RS version. This was confirmed by General Motors President (North America), Alex Batey.
Batey stated that the Cruze RS with its performance oriented design and the diesel engine will be a perfect combination to drive.
He also said that if the Cruze RS diesel variant will be launched with the manual transmission it will deliver a spirited driving because of the torquey engine.
The diesel variant of the Cruze will be powered by 1.6-litre Whisper diesel four-cylinder turbocharged engine which produces 140bhp and 325Nm of torque.
Initially, the Chevrolet Cruze sedan will be launched with a diesel engine and on a later stage, the RS hatchback will hit the markets.
The next-generation Chevrolet Cruze will be launched in India in 2017. This is the first D2XX-based model which will be launched in the country. Only the sedan version of the Cruze will be available in India.
