BMW To Launch New Iteration Of i3 Electric Car In 2017
BMW plans to launch the new iteration of its i3 electric car in 2017 with improved range and new design.
German car manufacturer BMW speculates to launch the new iteration of its i3 electric car in 2017, which will sport longer range and overhauled exterior design.
This was reported by German weekly Welt am Sonntag according to the sources from the company. BMW will work on the car to improve the range and design factor of the car.
BMW will redesign the front and rear of the i3 electric and also replace the current battery with the new one to improve its range.
In its current form, the i3 has a maximum range of 300km and the new car will be pushing the limits further. But the increase in range will be below 50 percent.
BMW was skeptical about the acceleration of development of new electric cars due to its expensive early investment.
Last year the i3 electric car recorded an average sales figure of just 25,000 units. To boost sales of i3, BMW has already increased the range of EV by 50 percent this year.
Although there is no official word on this development from BMW. If the i3 electric is relaunched with a rather practical range for daily commuters, it may result in an increase in the sales of the electric car.
