The Ultimate Self-Driving Machine?
BMW is all set to go from the 'Ultimate Driving Machine' to the 'Ultimate Self-Driving Machine' as the Bavarian giant readies to take on Tesla and the rest with an all-electric, autonomous flagship.
Speaking to BMW shareholders, BMW CEO Harald Krueger described the upcoming iNext luxury sedan, expected to launch in 2021 as the company's "new innovation driver, with autonomous driving, digital connectivity, intelligent lightweight design, a totally new interior and ultimately bringing the next generation of electro-mobility to the road."
The iNext luxury sedan will take cues from the the BMW Next 100 concept car unveiled in March at the start of BMW's Centenary celebrations .
The iNext sedan though couldn't come fast enough for BMW looks set to loose the top spot in the luxury segment this quarter for the first time since 2005 to Mercedes-Benz, whose host of new car models and and a rejuvenated lineup have seen it surge past the Bavarians.
