BMW 2002 Hommage Concept Pays Tribute To The Iconic 2002 Turbo
BMW has taken the wraps off the 2002 Hommage concept. The 2002 Hommage concept made its debut at this year's Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este.
The 2002 Hommage pays tribute to one of the most iconic cars from BMW's past, the BMW 2002 Turbo, which was launched at 1973 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The 2002 Turbo was BMW's first turbocharged production car and was part of BMW's iconic '02' which was launched 50 years ago in 1965.
The 2002 Hommage Concept is based on the current M2 coupe and reimagines the engineering behind the original 2002 Turbo.
It uses the same 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged engine as the M2 but uses Pistons and bearing from the M3 along with a custom exhaust. The engine produces 370bhp and 500Nm of torque.
The styling also takes quite a few cues from the original car including the shark nose and a large front spoiler that immediately reminds you of the 1970s.
On the sides, the 2002 Hommage features big wheel arches inside which sit 20-inch alloy with bi-colour design and gold-coloured brake calipers.
The rear end also features a big spoiler while the taillamps feature glass cover that black out the lights unless they are turned on. Also at the rear, underneath the diffuser element sit the quad exhausts pipes.
