BMW 1 Series Sedan For China Revealed — Is India Next?
The BMW 1 Series Sedan China-only model was first showcased at the 2015 Guangzhou Auto Show and was later revealed globally back in July 2016. Now, more details have emerged by a Chinese site Auto Home about the China-specific BMW 1 Series.
China will get three variants of the BMW 1 Series Sedan: 125i Sport (blue car), 120i Luxury (grey car), and a base variant, 118i (white car). The 125i and the 120i models will get the 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine which churns out 189bhp and 228bhp respectively. The base variant 118i will get the 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine developing 134bhp.
The gearbox will either be a six-speed automatic or possibly a six-speed manual transmission and the power will be sent to the front wheel, a first for BMW. The BMW 1 series measures 4,456mm long, 1803mm wide, and 1446mm in height. The wheelbase is expected to be 2670mm in length.
As you can see from the images, there will be a wide selection of alloy wheels which ranges from 16 to 18-inches in size. Halogen headlamps will be standard across the variant, the LED units are expected to be featured on the top trim.
Other features like the front fog lamps, heads-up display, safety sensors, reverse camera, door handle illumination and exterior chrome trim forms the equipment list, this will be dependant on the variants. Time will tell if India will receive a BMW 1 series with the same specifications, the sedan will be a good model for a country like India.
