Bentley Introduces India Made Stone Veneer In Bespoke Models
Bentley has taken the luxury touch in its cars to the next level, by offering stone inserts, sourced from India. The bespoke model is being made by Bentley's special force division, Mulliner, and will be offered in the Continental and Flying Spur models.
Mercedes used to offer something similar, but was made of granite. What Bentley is using is slates and quartzite from Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh, that date back to almost 200 million years.
The stone inserts are just 0.1mm thick, which helps them retain a few aspects like natural colour and texture, but also ensure the cars don't gain too much weight. The stone inserts will be initially offered in four colour finishes: Galaxy, Autumn White, Terra Red, and Copper.
Commenting on the new bespoke elements, Wolfgang Dürheimer, the Chairman and Chief Executive of Bentley Motors, explains, "We are the established experts in the handcrafting of wood and leather, and now we are exploring new, fine and rare materials to offer even more bespoke tailoring and choice to our customers."
