Audi To Recall 22,000 A3, A6 and A7 Over Issues With Side Airbag
Audi will recall 21,978 units of the A7, A6 and A3 sedans in two campaigns related to issues with the side airbags.
The first recall campaign wil see 21,074 A6 sedans produced between March 28, 2011, and March 25, 2013, and A7 sedans built between January 25, 2011, and March 19, 2013 being recalled in February. In sedans with heated and cooled seats, the Passenger Occupant Detection System can malfunction and prevent the passenger's side airbag from deploying in a crash. Customers will be asked to take their cars into dealerships so that the malfunctioning units can be replaced.
Audi will also recall 904 units of the 2015 A3 convertibles built between June 5, 2014, and April 1, 2015. The issue is again with the side airbag which may not deploy due to incorrect stitching of the driver or front passenger seat covers. Dealers will replace the covers on affected seats to fix the issue.
