Ford has confirmed that the 2018 Expedition model will be equipped with the aluminium body. As the Ford F-150, Expedition also adopts the aluminium body.
Ford confirmed this news while addressing the investors saying that the Ford Expedition with the aluminium body will hit the markets in 2018.
As the current model, the new Ford Expedition will be manufactured at the firm's Kentucky Truck plant, which also produces the latest aluminium bodied F-150.
Although the US automaker did not reveal any further details about the new Expedition. The manufacturing of aluminium body is expected to create additional jobs at the facility.
According to current speculations, the next generation Expedition will be powered by Ford's 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine, which will be mated to a ten-speed automatic gearbox.
The six-speed transmission will be replaced by the new gearbox and there is also a possibility of a smaller engine of capacity 2.7-litre to be offered after launch.
Every year Ford sells approximately 40,000 expeditions, almost half the number of Chevrolet Tahoes sold annually.
With the Expedition getting the new update, the Blue Oval should see a rise in the sales figures when the 2018 edition of the Expedition is launched.
