2017 Facelifted Skoda Octavia vRS Revealed
The Skoda Octavia vRS has been revealed with a facelift which comes shortly after the revised standard car was revealed.
Czech automaker, Skoda has revealed its new flagship performance car the facelifted Octavia RS with new front-end styling and dual head lights of the facelifted Octavia. This includes a boost in power by 9bhp for the 2.0-litre TSI engine vRS. The performance of the diesel variant Octavia RS remains the same.
The facelifted Octavia RS gets fully adaptive LED headlights and on the inside, optional Alcantara upholstery is now available, and the ambient lighting comes as standard. Skoda has added its ‘Simply Clever' touches to the Octavia RS which include umbrella under the passenger seat and a LED torch light removable from the boot lid of the estate.
The current Octavia RS's grip should be marginally improved with a 30m wider rear track, this is 10mm wider than the standard car. Skoda is offering 18inch alloy wheels on the 2017 Octavia RS with 19inch wheels as optional.
On the rear end, the facelifted Octavia RS is dominated by a powerful black diffuser element and broad red reflector lamp above. In addition, the model now features LED-technology license plate illumination and taillights in the classic C-design as standard.
The petrol-powered Octavia RS's extra power shaves 0.1seconds off the hatchback's performance of 0-100 km/h time at 6.7seconds. The diesel-powered models timing remains the same at 7.9seconds. The top speed of the petrol model has increased by 1.6km as well.
Part of Skoda's Dynamic Chassis Control system, a drive selector allows the choice of Sport, Normal or Comfort modes.
Skoda claims the fuel economy of the new Octavia RS is 18.45km/l for the petrol RS and 26.69km/l from the diesel model. These figures are likely to change for the dual-clutch automatic gearbox and four-wheel drive equipped variants.
The facelifted Octavia RS gets driver assist features such as trailer assist, blind spot detection, and rear traffic alert, which alerts the driver of approaching traffic while reversing.
Part of the semi-autonomous features, the new Octavia RS is equipped with thecrew protect assist function, which closes the windows and the sunroof and tightens seatbelts in case of a collision and well as tightening seatbelts.
The abbreviation RS has been used since the year 2000 for the top sporty versions in Skoda model range. The company has sold more than 200,000 Skoda Octavia RS worldwide, of which 100,000 units of the third generation launched back in 2013.
