Volkswagen Plant In Pune Aims To Reduce CO2 Emissions
The 'Think Blue. Factory.' initiative has helped German carmaker Volkswagen to achieve higher environment friendly manufacturing in its plant in Pune.
The company is looking forward to reduce the impact of production towards the environment by 25 percent globally.
The Think Blue. Factory. project of this year is a new Heat Recovery Unit that was installed at the exhaust end of the Top Coat Oven in the Paint Shop of the factory. This generates hot water using the exhaust gases which are vented out at 320 degree centigrade.
This hot water that is produced is then used for heating Pre-treatment process in the Paint Shop itself. As a result, the company has saved average energy that is consumed by nearly 1300 Indian households in a year.
Commenting on this, Andreas Lauenroth, the Executive Director - Technical, at Volkswagen India said, "The Heat Recovery from our oven in Paint Shop is major breakthrough in our efforts for achieving cleaner manufacturing."
"Volkswagen Pune Plant is moving with the right pace to achieve and surpass the targets set for 2018 under Think Blue. Factory. programme. This year, we will come closer to our target of contributing to the 25 percent global reduction in this respect."
