Volvo Unveils S90 Executive Sedan To Challenge BMW's 5 Series - Images
Volvo unveiled the S90 sedan at an event in Gothenburg on Wednesday.
The new sedan will take on the likes of the Mercedes E Class, BMW 5 Series, Audi A6 and the Jaguar XF.
The S90 sedan is based on the same Scalable Product Architecture as the XC90 SUV. It also uses the same range of four cylinder engines found on the SUV. The S90 also gives you the option of choosing between normal steel suspension or air suspension.
Styling wise, the S90 takes a few cues from the XC-90 including the LED headlights and the striking 'Thor's Hammer' daytime running lights. Another new feature is the concave grille. The car looks quite a lot more sharper and elegant when compared to older Volvo saloons.
Inside, the S90 features a lot of wood and leather but the interior is dominated by the 8-inch display which is part of the infotainment system. S90 owners can use the display to control everything from the sound system to the sattelite navigation to the climate control system.
Volvo has also added in its usual bevvy of safety technology into the S90. Volvo's City Safety and large animal detection technology are included in the S90 as is the Pilot Assist semi-autonomous, self-driving system .
