Volvo Reveals Its S60 Cross Country Model
Volvo will be unveiling its S60 Cross Country model to the general public at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. The manufacturer has gone ahead and decided to tease us with a few images prior to its official unveil.
The S60 Cross Country is a segment first for the Swedish manufacturer. It mixes the best of both worlds of a sedan and an estate. The vehicle shares most of its design with S60 sedan, on which it is based upon.
Volvo S60 Cross Country will be launched with a front wheel drive system. It will feature a diesel D4 mill producing 190 horsepower. They also plan to introduce an all-wheel-drive D4 2.4-litre 5-cylinder diesel engine. This new mill is expected to be offered at a later date from launch by the Swedish manufacturer.
Alain Visser, Senior Vice President Sales, Marketing and Customer Service, explains, "The S60 Cross Country is the sole contender in the crossover saloon segment. We have identified a clear niche in the market for a more capable saloon with rugged styling cues and a higher stance."
He further added, "The S60 Cross Country will appeal to people that are searching for an exciting and capable saloon, whilst enjoying the clear benefits that a crossover offers."
The Swedish manufacturer has highlighted an increase in vehicle height well. They have introduced skid-plates for the front as well as in the rear. The wheel arch gets black plastic to state its crossover persona. They have also gone forward with a two-tone theme rather than an all body colour, thus giving it a rugged look.
It is unclear if Volvo will bring this vehicle to India. We believe this product could do well in our country as it gets higher ground clearance and should tackle our conditions with relative ease. The S60 Cross Country could be an instant hit with luxury car buyers should it come to India.
