Volvo Trademarks C40 And C60 Names — New Cars Coming Your Way?
Swedish carmaker Volvo has trademarked ‘C40' and ‘C60' names with the United States Patent and Trademark Office on Nov. 5. Is Volvo coming up with new cars?
Not exactly. Carmakers can trademark a name if they think others can use it, or if the carmaker wants to safeguard the name. So trademarking does not necessarily mean that Volvo is building a new car.
But again, since Volvo is going to build compact cars using the new CMA modular platform, the C40 could be seen in production guise soon.
However, Hakan Samuelsson, the Boss of Volvo said that the carmaker will eventually build or launch a new convertible or a coupe, but at a later stage. Since a new convertible from Volvo won't be coming anytime soon, let's concentrate on what Volvo is launching.
Two new models that will be launched by Volvo will be the S90 luxury sedan and the V90 estate that are due in 2016. Both these models will be Volvo's high-end models. The next vehicles to look out for are the facelifted or next generation S60, V60, and XC60.
