Volkswagen Looking At Exploiting Utility Vehicle Segment In India

Volkswagen India is planning on making its vehicles work in our growing market. This includes launches of several new and even India-specific products in the coming times.

The German manufacturer has realised that the Utility Vehicle segment in India is interesting. Volkswagen is now planning of exploiting this segment by introducing their models in this mix.

These new Utility Vehicles will be built on their MQB/MLB platform. Officials are constantly in touch with VW headquarters to decide the perfect vehicle for launch.

Nothing has been finalised yet and if Volkswagen plan to launch utility vehicles in India, it will be by 2018. They plan to enter the SUV and MPV segment in India.

At 2014 Auto Expo, Volkswagen had showcased a compact SUV Taigun. This vehicle is most likely not coming to India as it will be updated soon and VW want to provide same cars globally.

Increasingly, every automobile manufacturer in India seems planning a product in every segment. Volkswagen products are currently not doing well and they plan to increase local production to reduce costs.

Volkswagen is planning to introduce a compact sedan based on their Polo hatchback. They have also confirmed that they would not enter the compact SUV segment.
