Volkswagen India To Introduce Vento Cup In 2015
German automobile manufacturer Volkswagen previously organised one-make racing events for individuals that are passionate about motorsports. They had organised several races at Buddh International circuit. Volkswagen had developed several race-spec Polo hatchbacks for such competition.
During the 2012 Polo Cup Championship, Volkswagen made the bold change. The German manufacturer opted to provide its more modern 1.4-litre TSI engine with a DSG gearbox. Previously, participants used diesel powered 1.6-litre engines, which was used from the inaugural year.
Now in 2015, Volkswagen India will provide participants with a bigger surprise. VW will be introducing the Vento Cup as part of their touring car championship. It will be similar to the Polo Cup that has been organised in India since 2010.

The Vento Cup race car will be powered by a 1.4-litre TSI engine. It will be capable of producing 180 bhp of maximum power. This engine will be paired to a 6-speed DSG gearbox. Volkswagen will also provide the Vento with a racing seat, six-point harness, roll-cage, fire extinguisher, and many more safety measures.
To participate in the Vento Cup 2015 Championship, participants will have to take part in a rigorous selection procedure. Registration has already commenced and if selected, drivers will be called for further training to prepare them for track racing.
Officials will be organising two roaring events in Pune as part of their selection procedure. Those selected will be placed in three categories. The Junior and Pro category demands selected drivers to pay a fee of INR 8,00,000 as participation fees. To compete in the Masters category, drivers will have to pay INR 12,00,000 as participation fees.
