Japanese automobile giant, Toyota has a wide range of products on offer in India. They have introduced several new vehicles to their existing line up. The manufacturer aims at launching more vehicles in India that will attract more customers to their offerings.
Toyota India has now presented their sales report for January, 2015. The Japanese manufacturer announced selling 12,650 vehicles during the first month of 2015, however, during January, 2014 they managed to sell 10,910 vehicles. They have registered growth of 16 percent in January, 2015 when compared to January, 2014.
The Japanese manufacturer has also increased their export from India. In January alone Toyota exported 1,714 Etios models. The manufacturer reported combined sales of 14,364 vehicles sold domestically and exported in January, 2015. During January, 2014 the manufacturer managed combined sales of 12,440 vehicles.
N Raja, Director and Senior Vice - President, Sales and Marketing cautioned "The growth of 16 percent is also credited to the launch of the New Innova and all-new Fortuner 4X4 AT, in early January. We would like to thank our customers for their continued support and trust in brand Toyota and also welcome new customers for a great journey ahead."
He further added, "The effect of the increased prices on account of excise duty hike, is still impacting the market. We hope the Govt would reconsider the excise duty concessions in the upcoming Fiscal Budget, to achieve sustained growth in 2015. In line with the ‘Make in India' campaign, structural reforms for the Auto sector are essential at this point in time."
Toyota currently offers ten models in India and plan and increasing their portfolio. Their line up includes three SUVs: the Fortuner, Land Cruiser Prado and Land Cruiser. With regard to sedans, it offers the Etios, Corolla Altis, Camry and Prius. They also have two hatchbacks and a single MPV on offer: the Etios Liva, Etios Cross and Innova respectively.
