Tata Zica Review: What To Expect?

The Zica is the latest entrant in a highly competitive segment. Spacious and stylish. Affordable and practical.

A gentle reminder that Tata Motors is working conscientiously and enthusiastically to match wits with the Maruti Celerio and Hyundai i10 in the ever competitive hatchback segment.

From Tata Zest in the compact sedan to the Tata Bolt in the premium hatchback, it's pretty much the same story; only one brand dominates these segments, enter the trusty Maruti.

Tata Motors is now putting their money on the Zica, in hopes of finding a gold mine. Another day, and another review. Here is what the Tata Zica has to offer.

Design

The Tata Zica's design is something very new, unlike any other Tata models that are sold currently. The first impression anybody would get is that the car's design is stylish and sharp. The Zica is proportioned very well, and the sharp lines flow smooth, giving the car a very sporty character. The front grille is made to blend in perfectly with the overall design of the car.

Engine & Gearbox

The Tata Zica comes with a choice of petrol and diesel engine, both being three-cylinder units. The petrol engine is a 1199cc engine that develops 84bhp and 114Nm of torque, while the diesel engine is a 1047cc powerhouse that produces 69bhp. Both engines are paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The petrol variant of the Zica is expected to return around 20km/l and the diesel variant is expected to return around 25km/l in terms of mileage.

Features

Although Tata is placing the Zica below the Bolt, in terms of segment, the car is loaded with a lot of features. For starters, the car has up to 22 storage places within the cabin, which tucks or carries all the bottles and cups. The Zica comes with the same Harman system as the Bolt, with navigation, smartphone integration, and Bluetooth connectivity.

Apart from the above mentioned, the Zica comes with reverse parking sensors, power windows, an instrument cluster with multi-function display, and a charging port for phones and other devices.
