Tata T1 Prima Truck Racing Season 2 Commences Tomorrow
Tata Motors will be entering the second season of their truck racing championship in India. The T1 Prima Truck Racing will begin on 14th of March, 2015 with qualifying and the main race will be held on 15th of March, 2015. These races will be held at Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida.
For 2015, six teams will be participating in the Truck Racing Championship:
- Team Castrol Vecton
- Team Cummins
- Team Tata Technologies Motorsports
- Team Dealer Warriors.
- Team Dealers Daredevils
- Team Allied Partners
Tata Motors is the only manufacturer in India to organise a truck racing event. In the second season 12 competitors will take to the track. The Tata Prima race trucks have been optimised for 2015. Indian engineers have managed to improve acceleration and aerodynamics of their truck, weight has also been reduced.
Farhan Vohra, FIA steward of clerk of the course, T1, commented "It's just so incredible - I would really recommend anybody to go out there and watch 12 big truck compete against each other, a truly fantastic experience. The circuit, the city, the atmosphere everything!"
He further added, "It's amazing to think of all the work that must go into making it happen. It's a must-see spectacle, and one that shows just what this sport can achieve with an open-minded approach to creating something new, unusual and innovative. I would like to congratulate Tata Motors for putting this all together and can't wait for the 2015 season to begin."
Tata Motors is keen to host the third edition of Prima T1 Truck Racing Championship in 2016. They have confirmed that they are looking at introducing Indian participants as well. Currently drivers from international countries race these trucks around the Indian circuit.
