Suzuki iM-4 Compact SUV Could Be Called Ignis
Maruti Suzuki recently announced that their upcoming premium hatchback will be called Baleno. They also plan on introducing their new compact SUV, which is based on their iM-4 concept.
Now the Japanese manufacturer is looking at options for naming its new product for global markets. The iM-4 concept is most likely to be named as Ignis compact SUV globally.
Suzuki previously offered a vehicle with the name Ignis for several markets. Back then it was a tall hatchback model and was on sale from 2000 to 2008 and was available in several options.
Ignis compact SUV may not be coming to India, as Maruti Suzuki is currently working on a similar model called YBA. This model will be based on their XA Alpha concept showcased at several occasions.
Under the goodwill be the same 1.0-litre three cylinder, Boosterjet petrol engine. This is the same engine that will do duty in Suzuki's Baleno hatchback model in several countries.
iM-4 compact SUV made its global debut at 2015 Geneva Motor Show. Suzuki had showcased both iK-2 and iM-4 models together, iK-2 was codename for Baleno and will enter production soon.
