Ssangyong Tivoli Comes To India For R&D Purpose
Mahindra has imported the Ssangyong Tivoli (compact SUV) for R&D purpose. Mahindra holds 70 percent share in the Korean-based four-wheeler manufacturer. Currently, the Rexton SUV is the only product on offer by Ssangyong in India. Mahindra has been contemplating on bringing the Tivoli to Indian shores for a while now.
Globally, Ssangyong offers the Tivoli with a 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engine option. The Korean-based manufacturer also provides this compact SUV in manual and automatic transmission options. The Tivoli in European markets is offered with an All-Wheel and Front-Wheel Drive options.
In India, Mahindra could provide the Ssangyong Tivoli with a 1.5-litre mHawk80 diesel engine; the same engine, which powers the all-new TUV3OO model.
On the competition front, Tivoli will have to compete with Renault Duster, Hyundai Creta, Nissan Terrano, and Ford EcoSport. Mahindra will position the Ssangyong Tivoli above the Scorpio, in terms of pricing. The Tivoli will be the second product on offer by the Korean-based manufacturer in India.
Ssangyong and Mahindra have brought the Tivoli to India to explore options of local assembly. There is a possibility of launching this compact SUV as a Completely Knocked Down unit (CKD).
Ssangyong Tivoli expected price and launch: Rs. 18 lakh onward | Start of 2016
