Range Rover Evoque Cabriolet To Be Put Into Production
Range Rover is a premium luxury SUV brand and they provide excellent products all over the world. Their most popular offering till date has been their modern SUV, the Evoque. It looks sharp and nothing like its predecessors.
There have been several rumours about the British manufacturer working on a cabriolet model. They had showcased a concept cabriolet based on their popular Evoque SUV. It was revealed at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.
Now JLR confirms the seriousness of this project. They have estimated its launch date for the end of 2015. It will share several design elements with the concept model showcased back in 2012, however, it will get modern updates to keep it in sync with the current generation.
It is expected to receive both petrol as well as a diesel mill to power Evoque cabriolet:
- A 4-cylinder 2179cc Turbodiesel engine will do duty in the convertible SUV. It will be capable of generating 188 bhp, along with 420 Nm of peak torque. The engine will be paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission with AWD.
- The petrol powered Evoque cabriolet is likely to receive an inline 4-cylinder turbocharged 1999cc engine. It will produce 237 bhp and 340 Nm of peak torque. It will only have an AWD option, along with 9-speed automatic transmission.
The roof will be soft-top and will be adequate against nature's elements. It will be a three door model, just like the concept vehicle. More details will be made public prior to its launch later this year. Range Rover is betting on the success of their Evoque model to exploit the SUV cabriolet market.
