Nissan To Launch New Model Under Datsun Brand

Japanese carmaker Nissan will launch a new model under the Datsun brand in 2016. It will be a small car, as Nissan is looking to capture 5 percent market share in another five years.

Guillaume Sicard, the Operations President of Nissan India said the car will be launched sometime in 2016. He also said that the car will be based on the same platform as the Renault Kwid. Will it be the Datsun Redi-Go?

The carmaker is also looking to expand its dealer and service networks in India. Nissan at the moment exports almost 65 percent of cars that are built in India and in due course of time, the company will balance out this ratio.

Apart from building and exporting cars, Nissan also supplies parts made in India to 24 countries around the world.

Comin back to the car that Nissan is looking to launch under the Datsun brand, is it possible that the company is getting ready to launch the Datsun Redi-Go? If so, it is also likely that apart from the same platform as the Kwid, the car can also be using the same engine.
