Nissan Micra X-Shift Launched: First Drive, Price, Features, And More
Nissan India chose the occasion of the 2015 Nissan GT Academy to reveal the new limited edition variant of the Nissan Micra, called the X-Shift. This new variant marks the 5th anniversary of the Micra in India.
The X-Shift gets the same 1.2-litre petrol engine from the Micra's original lineup, which is mated to Nissan latest-gen CVT transmission. The car is priced at INR 6,39,990 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
Select members of the media were invited to test drive the X-Shift on the MMSCI circuit in Sriperumbudur, Chennai. Nissan India claims the Micra offers the advantages of smooth acceleration, no shift shock, and good fuel efficiency.
The new variant retains the Micra's driving characteristics, with some roll around the corners, however in a nicely controlled and predictable manner. The X-Shift is smooth to accelerate definitely, and while this version is best suited to the city, we did manage to hit a respectable 125 km/h on one section of the track. Impressive braking too, continues with this new Micra variant.
While the foot was always hard on the gas on the MMSCI circuit, the car felt slightly out of character, since one discerns very quickly that this car is not tuned for outright performance, but for good driveability and economy. However, with a light, progressive foot on the throttle, the CVT should continue to offer excellent mileage.
New features include reverse park assist, exhaust finisher, silver finishers, door graphics, roof wrap, floor mats, and LED scuff plates. The CVT variant also gets ABS and piano black detailing in the interior.
Nissan claims the X-Shift Micra is capable of delivering fuel economy of 19.34 kpl in CVT form, and 18.44 kpl for the manual version.
