Nissan India Discontinues Evalia MPV Witnessing Low Demand
Nissan has a wide range of products on offer in India, they also provide an affordable brand Datsun in the country. All in all they offer hatchbacks to compact SUV and even an MPV.
Nissan had launched its Evalia MPV in India a while ago, they had also provided updates to it recently. It was their very MPV offering in India, however, sales never took off for them.
The Japanese manufacturer has now concluded production of new Evalia models in India. Nissan will eventually clear its stock and is most likely to discontinue this MPV from the market.
Evalia had tough competition that it had to content with in Indian market. Toyota's Innova and Mahindra's Xylo were two MPVs in India that were pitted against Nissan's MPV.
Ashok-Leyland had acquired a few models of Evalia as well, which they rebadged as the Stile. This was their first attempt entering passenger vehicle segment, which did not do well and was discontinued in May, 2015.
Nissan is currently doing well in terms of sales with other products. Perhaps discontinuation of a model that is not doing good could clear the road for a newer and better model.
