Around 140,000 people die due to road accidents every year in India alone, ignorance and the disability to follow traffic rules, being the major cause.

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), India recorded the most number of road accidents in 2010, which accounted for 15 percent of global road fatalities.

According to a sample study conducted by Mercedes, 50 percent of the road accidents lacked accident avoidance maneuvers from the driver.

This initiative to make Indian roads safer by Mercedes-Benz, could see the road fatality numbers come down to just 50,000 by 2025. Also, with the innovative safety features aboard the cars, Mercedes is working hard to bring road accident numbers down. The carmaker has 54 patents filed in terms of safety alone.
