Mercedes AMG GT S & C 63 S Appointed In 2015 Formula One Championship
The 2015 Formula One Championship will commence on 14th March with qualifying and main race on 15th March, 2015. It is scheduled to begin at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne. Mercedes AMG has been appointed as the official safety and medical vehicles for 2015.
The German manufacturer has pulled the cover of their two vehicles that will do duty in 2015 Formula One championship. Mercedes AMG will be providing their GT S and C 63 S performance vehicles. The last five seasons SLS AMG was Formula One's official safety car and has finally been replaced.
Mercedes-AMG C 63 S estate, sports a 4.0-litre V8 bi-turbo engine. It produces 510 horsepower and 700 Nm of peak torque output. The engine is mated to a 7-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT transmission. It sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in a matter of 4.1 seconds.
The official safety car for 2015 Formula One championship is AMG GT S. It is powered by V8, 4.0-litre bi-turbo engine, which is paired to a 7-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT transmission. The engineers have extracted 510 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque from their engine. It has a top speed of 310 km/h and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in a matter of 3.8 seconds.
Bernd Maylander, driver of the official safety car of the FIA Formula One Championship since 2000, expresses, "The gullwing SLS AMG was my official car in Formula 1 for five years. Now I'm looking forward to the new Mercedes-AMG GT S, which I have been fortunate enough to get to know during its development phase. The new AMG sports car won me over immediately with its high-calibre race track performance."
