Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Diesel To Be Replaced With SHVS Diesel Hybrid

By Ajinkya

Maruti Suzuki will be replacing its Ciaz diesel in the country with a new SHVS diesel hybrid. The launch of this new hybrid engine will be soon after existing stock is exhausted.

The Japanese automobile manufacturer is looking at introducing this new model by August, 2015 itself. Design wise no changes will be made to the Ciaz that is on offer currently, except for a hybrid badge.

The new Ciaz with the SHVS hybrid engine will feature an auto engine start/stop function. The vehicle will restart when driver presses on the clutch pedal, or they can use the push start button as well.

Engineers will also provide the model with an Integrated Starter Generator. It will charge the battery up to store electric energy, along with a brake regeneration system to power up the battery.

The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz SHVS diesel will be priced significantly higher than the outgoing regular diesel engine. This is the first time they will be offering a mild hybrid option in Indian market.

It will be interesting to see if Maruti Suzuki will provide this hybrid option to more of their products. We will provide you more information on this development as it becomes available to us.
