Maruti Suzuki Celerio Achieves 1 Lakh Sales Milestone Across Variants

Maruti Suzuki had launched its all-new global small car the Celerio at 2014 Auto Expo. Since then it has been introduced in several markets and is breaking record worldwide.

Now the Celerio has set another record by achieving 1,00,000 sales milestone. Major credit for explosive sales of Celerio go to its Auto Gear Shift technology and multiple fuel options.

RS Kalsi, Executive Director, Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited said, "We thank customers for their support to brand Celerio. Celerio is the first car in India to introduce the acclaimed Auto Gear Shift technology and almost one third of the sales are of the Auto Gear Shift variants."

He further added, "Customers appreciated the convenience of automatic gear shifting with no loss in fuel efficiency on Celerio and within a year of its launch Maruti Suzuki's share in the lower hatchback has shot up to 71% from 61%."

Currently the Japanese based manufacturer is selling both petrol, CNG and diesel engine options with Celerio. The Auto Gear Shift feature is available only with petrol engine, while the others get manual transmission.

Suzuki will hope to replicate their Celerio success with their soon to be launched S-Cross model. These premium products will be sold through their new Nexa dealerships across India.
