Maruti Baleno Testing 1.0-litre BoosterJet Engine In India
Maruti Suzuki has commenced testing its 1.0-litre BoosterJet engine on Indian roads. The all-new engine is being tested under the hood of the Baleno hatchback. Currently, Suzuki offers the BoosterJet engine in international markets only.
The Baleno by Maruti Suzuki is currently manufactured at the company's Indian facility. At launch time, Maruti Suzuki did not introduce the premium hatchback with the BoosterJet engine. They could now introduce the Baleno as a performance version.
Another factor could be that Maruti Suzuki has manufactured the 1.0-litre BoosterJet engine domestically. Suzuki has made its intention clear of making India its manufacturing hub. The BoosterJet engine could be manufactured in India and exported to global markets.
The BoosterJet engine by Maruti Suzuki is a 1.0-litre petrol engine with a turbocharger. In terms of performance, Maruti Suzuki will target driving enthusiasts with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The engineers will extract over 108.50bhp and 170Nm of peak torque output.
In terms of safety, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno will be equipped with several safety options as standard. The BoosterJet engine could be offered only in the topmost variant. The Maruti Suzuki Baleno with BoosterJet engine could sport special badging and unique colour options as well.
