Half The Bookings For The Mahindra TUV 300 Are for AMT Variant
Mahindra's latest small SUV, the TUV 300 has garnered 12,000 orders since its launch in September.
AutoCar India is reporting that almost half of the 12,000 orders received for the new Mahindra TUV 300 are for the automatic variants of the vehicle. The TUV 300 is the first compact SUV in its segment to offer an AMT gearbox
Mahindra has stated that the high demand for the automatic variant of the TUV 300 was rather unanticipated. A limited AMT production capacity has been given as the reason behind the gap between demand and supply for the TUV 300.
The AMT gearbox which was developed in-house by Mahindra with some input from Ricardo is offered with the T6+ and T8+ variants of the TUV 300. The AMT gearbox is mated to Mahindra's mHawk80 engine. The mHawk 80 displaces just 1493cc and with the help of a twin scroll turbocharger it pushes out 82.85bhp and 230Nm of torque.
