Mahindra S101 Compact SUV To Be Christened On December 18
Mahindra automobiles will be christening its all-new compact SUV on December 18, 2015. So far, the model is known by its codename, the S101. Mahindra has been extensively testing the S101 model on the streets.
To be present at the naming ceremony of the S101 compact SUV will be Dr. Pawan Goenka, Executive Director, Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd. and Pravin Shah, President and Chief Executive (Automotive) Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd.
In a previous conference organised by Mahindra, we were informed that the all-new compact SUV will be powered by new engines. A 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol and diesel engine will be developed in-house by Mahindra for the S101 model. The engine will initially be paired to a 5-speed manual transmission and an AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) option will be introduced later.
The S101 will be built around a monocoque chassis instead of Mahindra's traditional ladder frame chassis. In terms of design, the S101 compact SUV is expected to be inspired from the XUV5OO. Mahindra is most likely to christen its S101 compact SUV as the XUV1OO for the Indian market.
The soon to be named S101 compact SUV is expected to be priced at a base price of Rs. 4 lakh ex-showroom. Mahindra is most likely to launch the new compact SUV in January 2016, prior to the Auto Expo in Delhi. Stay tuned for more updates about Mahindra's all-new compact SUV.
